Your advise about being specific is very sound …

There is actually an acronym used in goal setting that will help – it is SMART. All goals should be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and have a definite Time frame for achieving.

So if a person’s goal was to lose a certain amount of weight, it would be specific, measurable – by jumping on the scale daily, the goal should be attainable as long as the person follows a good diet and exercise program and it the amount to lose is realistic. As always, any good goal needs to have a time deadline … otherwise we will put off the diet/exercise to a more convenient time.
